Additional Info: This cell line was established after spontaneous transformation of cell isolated from the lung of a normal male . The G1 phase in these cells is either absent or very short. Consequently they have been used in studies of the G1 growth period. V-79 cell have a short doubling time, rangingfrom 8 to 10 hours.
