week-old male fetus, cells are capable of attaining 42-46 population
doubling before senescence. Comparative studies showed that MRC-5
cells replicate more rapidly and are less sensitive to adverse
enviromental factors than WI-38 cells. Like WI-38 cells, they are
suceptible to a wide range of human viruses, and are siutable for the
