USA. | Reference: | J. Biol. Chem. 256: 3833-39, 1981. | Additional Info: | Hybridoma developed by T. Springer et cols. Secretes rat IgG1 k
antibodies that identify a 110,000 MW glycoprotein found on mouse
mononuclear phagocytes, designated Mac-3 (macrophage
subpopulation-specific antigen). Mac-2 and Mac-3 are not expressed on
bone marrow cells. Mac-3 antibodies label 69% of spleen cells and 0-2%
of thymocytes. Expression of antigen is increased during
differentiation of monocytes to activated peritoneal macrophages. This
hybridoma was formed by fusion of the mouse myeloma line
P3-NSI/1-Ag4-1 with the spleen cells from (Lewis X BN) F1 rats
immunized with detergent-solubilized murine (CC57Bl/6) macrophage
membrane wich had been immunodepleted. The immunodepletion
was accomplished with monoclonal antibody immunosorbents and
removed previosly identified antigen prior to immunization of rats,
thus increasing the probability of identifying a new antigen.
