Additional Info: The L-M cell line was derived from L-929 cells. The L-M(TK-) was derived from a 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine (BrdU) resistant strain of L-M cell line. Biochemical and radioautographic studies indicate that this cell line no longer incorporated exogenous Brdu into cellular DNA and the enzyme thymidine kinase was lacking. No inhibition of growth potential was detected during culture in medium supplemented with 60 ug/mL BrdU, and these cellos exhibit their sensivity to HAT medium. they are therefore useful in somatic cell hybridization studies.
